Westerly is the westernmost town in South County, Rhode Island, separated from Connecticut by the Pawcatuck River. Getting Around...

Transportation

I-95 — The interstate runs just north of the Westerly line, so it’s to access if traveling towards Providence or Newport, or south into Connecticut.

Route 1 (Post Road) — Connects Westerly to the adjoining towns along the South Shore, including Charlestown, South Kingstown, and Narragansett.

Route 1A — The main road which connects Westerly’s villages and downtown area, including Watch Hill, Avondale, Misquamicut, and Weekapaug.

Route 78 (Westerly Bypass)  — Expressway between Stonington, CT, and Westerly. Route 78 makes it easier to travel from Route 1 into CT, without having to cross through downtown Westerly or use I-95.

Dunn’s Corner Road — The main road for traveling to and from Bradford, RI, and Hopkinton. Connects with Route 1 and further south into Weekapaug and Misquamicut Beach.
